I'm kind of sad to say that this year's Eat Vancouver! wasn't as great as last year. One year they had a chocolate sculpting contest, I was hoping they would have something similar but they didn't. They didn't have a lot of things they would have every year. I found the whole venue was really crowded, but then I went on a Saturday which explains everything. Most people would go on a Saturday night oppose to Friday night because everyone's just so pooped tired from working. Soo while volunteering on Friday night the person I was working with spotted a giant apple walking around. I passed her my camera and got a picture of it...and with it.
I think some people thought it was a bell pepper, I assure you it wasn't. He was advertising for a tutoring thing.
Girl i volunteered with and the giant apple and me. I thought it was random that some person insisted we take a picture together and I don't know that girl very well.
TBH, i have no clue why it was leaned in so close to me. Noooo clue why.
I thought it was kind of funny they gave my friend a baby yogurt, while I got regular plain...vanilla yogurt. Her's tasted a lot better...is it just me or does food for kids/babies taste so much better? It's more flavorful and less...bland? I don't eat baby food by the way. It's something I noticed when i was eating some product designed/ marketed for kids.
Now on SUNDAY, it was the bonn fire, my friend started planning on Friday. It was suppose to be a pig on a spit/farewell party fro a friend. With the lack of planning, it was plannedhttp://www.xanga.com/private/editorx.aspx with a guy who normally hosts LAN parties and a guy who has his own time zone (+3-5 hours). From what I've heard all they did was sit around waiting for the third guy to show up. Apparently he didn't show up until 11pm at night and didn't get any planning done either. My friend going away kept insist I go, even when I told him I'm a little sick so there's a 50/50 chance I wouldn't go because I'm sick. He had a feeling I was avoiding him, maybe I was - maybe I wasn't. So i felt bad I if I didn't go and see him off before I spend the rest of the summer with out him around.
The entire thing was suppose to start at 3pm. Well the plan was that they had the fire going and all that by 3pm. But instead majority of the time was sitting around at the Lan party guy's apartment waiting around for a ride over. Well nothing had actually had happened until 7pm. It was raining. I was feeling even more sick and I didn't want to go home because - again I wanted some food. By the time I got home my parents would of had dinner and I didn't want to ruin a clean kitchen by cooking. While playing the waiting game for rides, my friend had all the food prepared. So what he had was the pig all marinated and ready to go, then they had a whole chicken soaked in beer with pork stuffed inside. Lastly, they had sock eye. The only thing they forgot to prep is the chuck.
Any ways, once they got to the beach or the place where the bon fire was suppose to take place they spent a good 20 minutes trying to get the fire going, tried cooking the chicken in an open pot but the plastic part of the handle melted off, then tried cooking it on a stick but the stick got caught on fire. The guy cooking didn't have his tongs, and was too lazy to find a pair of tongs in his kit so he pretty much took two knifes to flip everything. Kinda scary if your standing near him and all you hear is "some one with a camera take pictures!" All in the rain, yes they did all that in the rain. Everything else had to be cooked in a trailer that some one had brought with him attached to his truck. By about 9:30 I was super hungry and super sick so I went home. It took me an hour to get home and it kinda sucked for me because I had to take the bus all the way home. So, since then I've been pretty sick. I'm slowly starting to feel better, parents are making me go see a doctor though. Even one of my friends is going to call and harass me until I had made an appointment to see a doctor.
So here are the rest of the pictures:
